Triumph 350cc Motorcycles Confirmed for April 2026 India Launch – Lower GST, Better Pricing Expected

Triumph 350cc Motorcycles Confirmed for April 2026 India Launch

Triumph Motorcycles India has officially confirmed that its new 350cc motorcycle range will launch in April 2026. The announcement was made by Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director and CEO of Bajaj Auto, during a recent media interaction, marking a significant expansion of the Triumph-Bajaj partnership into a more accessible displacement category.

The upcoming motorcycles will sit below Triumph’s existing 400cc lineup and are expected to be positioned at a more competitive price point.

Tax Advantage to Influence Pricing

One of the primary reasons behind the move to a 350cc platform is taxation. Currently, Triumph’s 399cc motorcycles fall under the higher GST slab of 40 percent. By reducing the engine capacity to under 350cc, the new models will qualify for the significantly lower 18 percent GST bracket.

This substantial tax difference is expected to allow Triumph and Bajaj to offer the motorcycles at more attractive prices, potentially expanding their reach in India’s fast-growing mid-capacity segment. The pricing strategy could make these bikes more competitive against established players in the 300–350cc category.

Engine Likely Derived from Existing 400cc Unit

Rather than developing an entirely new powertrain, the new 350cc motorcycles are expected to be based on Triumph’s current 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine platform.

Sources suggest the company may reduce the bore while retaining the same stroke configuration to bring displacement below the 350cc threshold. This engineering approach helps maintain the overall character and refinement of the existing engine while optimizing it for taxation benefits.

The current 399cc motor produces around 40 HP and 37.5 Nm of torque in most models. With the downsizing, a reduction of approximately 3–5 HP is anticipated, although official figures are yet to be disclosed. Despite the marginal drop in output, the bikes are expected to retain strong performance for city riding and highway cruising.

All variants are likely to continue with a 6-speed gearbox, ensuring smooth power delivery and riding comfort.

Models Expected Under the New Platform

The new 350cc engine is expected to underpin Triumph’s India-manufactured lineup, which currently includes:

  • Speed 400
  • Scrambler 400
  • Speed T4
  • Thruxton 400

While there is no confirmation yet on whether the 400cc versions will be discontinued in India, production for export markets is expected to continue.

Similar Strategy Could Extend to KTM & Bajaj

Industry reports indicate that Bajaj Auto may adopt a similar downsizing strategy for KTM’s 390 range as well as its own 400cc models such as the Dominar 400 and NS400Z. However, no official timeline has been confirmed for those motorcycles.

If implemented, this could represent a broader industry shift toward optimizing engine displacement to balance taxation, pricing, and performance.

What This Means for Buyers

The introduction of Triumph’s 350cc motorcycles could significantly strengthen the brand’s presence in the sub-400cc segment, which continues to gain popularity in India. By leveraging lower GST benefits and competitive pricing while retaining premium build quality and modern features, Triumph aims to attract a wider customer base.

With the April 2026 launch timeline confirmed, more details regarding specifications, pricing, and variant lineup are expected in the coming months.
